It’s April. Days away from May, in fact. I’ve been happily posting about how we’ve been getting so much yard work done and enjoying the summerlike temps in the 70s and 80s. Yeah.

Yesterday:

Note the flurries constrasting with the green grass and buds on the lilacs and trees.

Today:

Sheesh.

On the plus side, I spent yesterday recovering from the conference, napping and knitting without feeling like I should’ve been out pulling weeds.

Last night K and I went to dinner at Rube Tue and then saw Kung Fu Hustle with some friends. Our server seemed really distracted at the restaurant – wasn’t on top of drink refills etc. But then he tried to redeem himself with this:

Apparently I looked very concerned.
Kung Fu Hustle was hilarious. Highly recommended.

Speaking of the conference, it went swimmingly. I was chair of an award committee and the winner was surprised by both the award and by the Top Secret Guests we brought in. It was just perfect. Also, They Might Be Giants were great and really fun to talk to. My car stereo is now set at ideal fidelity thanks to John F. Woot! I don’t know that They really had any idea what they were getting into and even after they were done, I’m not sure they had any more idea. But they were good natured about it all and a ton of their merch sold so that’s good for everyone involved. I was trying not to blind them with flash so these pics may not be as crisp as possible.

(Sorry, Eva, this was the only one of us four that wasn’t blurry!)

Having They play at the conference was just too awesome. I have mega gratitude to Eva for doing so much grueling work to get them there. The whole conference was so much fun. I didn’t take my camera down to the karaoke night and damn but that was a ton of fun. It was such a great week I can’t sum it up well here.

  2. I was just thinking earlier that perhaps it was some kind of karma.

  3. Wow! What a groovy conference. How can I persuade They to play at my next conference. What a dad blane bummer about that snow. But Spring will be right around the corner.

  4. We went through their representation at the Hornblow Group – I think that with the ABCs projects, librarians seemed like a good audience (and they did sell a TON of merch!). It was so fun!

Also, spring is here again! Woot!

  5. WOW WOW WOW WOW!!! That is so cool you got to meet TMBG!! I have such a huge crush on John Linnell, was he nice?
