Part of my lazy clean-up last year was not removing the ground cherries that fell off the volunteers next to the front door.
There are a number of them hanging around under the Red Maple Tree. I thought this one was pretty with the sun shining on it.
Saw one in the yard today and had no idea what it was. Thanks for shedding some light on that, although I have no idea where it came from as I haven’t seen anything like what your previous post described around that area.
Glad to help! I had some of this crop up unexpectedly the year before last, and then I forgot about it, and last year it came up like crazy in that same area (due no doubt to me not cleaning up after it). My theory is that the original bit came from a bird (there is a tree over that area).
I just planted some of these for this year’s kitchen garden. I have never had them before. Can’t wait to try them. I heard they are quite tasty.
Sadly I never actually made anything out of these last year, but if they come back this year I will definitely make an attempt. I’ve heard great things!
