San Francisco, USA (part two)

We wanted to see Muir Woods, so we signed up for a tour. Once we were on the trip I was really glad we hadn’t rented a car and driven ourselves, because the road there is super twisty turny with big drop-offs and not much shoulder in some places. I don’t know how anyone manages to drive a gigantic bus down those roads, but our driver was pretty comfortable with it. So comfortable, in fact, that he recited his original poetry and classics by others, all tree- and nature-related, the entire way there and back. He took his delivery tips from Garrison Keillor, I think, but I managed to stay awake anyway.

We had brought sandwiches, so we ate a quick picnic lunch at the Nature Center while we watched the adorable chipmunks skittering back and forth across the deck. I took a ton of photos, so feel free to peruse my flickr for more.

It was all just mega beautiful and tranquil and awesome. Even though there were a lot of people there, it didn’t feel like it.

After we left Muir Woods, our bus stopped in Sausalito. We stopped for ice cream and enjoying the sunshine, and then took a ferry back to San Francisco.

It was a lovely day! More to come in the next post.
