Chinese Fireball

The start of February meant a whole new crop of assignments in the Harry Potter Knit Crochet House Cup on Ravelry. Yay! I am finding that stash-busting is fun, but being able to complete assignments for this kind of fun group is even better.

February’s assignment for Care of Magical Creatures was to make a project inspired by the Chinese Fireball dragon. I had some very flame-ish yarn in my stash which turned out to be perfect for this prompt. I also decided to yet again do some cables, because the way they twist and turn can be reminiscent of flames as well.

This scarf will keep you hot both literally and figuratively!

This scarf uses almost 400 yards of yarn, which seems like a lot, but somehow the scarf manages not to feel too bulky.

I’m so pleased with how representative this colorway is of the fire theme. It works perfectly and it also really shows off this stitch pattern.
