sundog: melting

Coraline adores sleeping underneath a lap blanket, and especially on or adjacent to an actual lap. Occasionally she will come up for air, though, and then she often continues napping.

This picture was taken with my phone and then enhanced to bring up the exposure, so it’s a bit grainy. But you can see how boneless she’s gone here. Just look at the wattle all bunched up under her neck!

Sometimes when Coraline gets super crazy, K will pick her up and show her around the room Lion King-style. For some reason this works to calm her down a little.

The other day he did this and then perched her on his shoulder like a parrot or Squirrelly.

WHUT.

Uh-oh, someone senses an opportunity…

And she dives for the mouth. We had just eaten dinner and apparently K’s breath smelled delicious. She is a weird, adorable puppy.

Sundog: peekaboo

Coraline loves to be comfy. During the winter this means even more blanket snuggling than usual. She especially likes having her head buried under the covers with her, so she’s got a little furnace tent thing going. Occasionally she comes up for air, though, and pokes her head out from under the covers.

She gets so, so tired, though. It’s just difficult to keep one’s head up and eyes open.

But then someone starts snapping pictures of you and disturbs your faceplant nap. Some people.

cuddlebug

Coraline was in a very cuddly mood on Valentine’s Day. Since K was at work until close, I treated her to a lengthy bellyrub.

This was really her idea, as she hopped up next to me and sprawled on her back – there’s no mistaking what she wanted. But who could resist that face!

Sundog: perched

Coraline loves to be up on the back of the armchair by the front window of our living room. She can get a good view of what’s happening in the yard, in the trees, and on the street. She likes to be informed! It’s funny – she will be up there and see the mail deliverer come up the front steps, and some days she gets her hackles all up and barks her head off while other days she just sedately stares at them, watching their moves carefully but with zero alarm. I’m not sure what makes the difference.

Coraline

On this particular morning, she was enjoying the warm sun coming in.

Coraline

She is just so photogenic, isn’t she? Ridiculously cute.

Coraline

Of course after a few minutes soaking up the sun, she got so tired she couldn’t hold up her head any longer. It’s a nice comfy spot for a nap.

ministry of silly walks

Coraline has been fairly unimpressed with the snow we’ve had this season. Last winter (her first) we barely had any at all, so she’s really not used to it.

Coraline in the snow: Ministry of Silly Walks

The latest snows we’ve gotten have been super light and fluffy and the snow was up to her belly earlier this week! She was not a fan. I can’t blame her, though. Who wants to pee waist-deep in a pile of cold, wet stuff?

Part of her usual routine in any season is to be chase by poop demons before doing her business. She races manically up and down the yard like a thing possessed – it’s really hilarious. The snow seems to put her into super-demon mode. She not only races up and down, she jumps up and down in circles and chases her tail and is just generally ridiculous. She moves so fast that it’s difficult to get good photos, though I gave it a shot and got a couple of illustrative if not quality shots.

This one is my favorite as it looks like she’s strolling in the front, with her back legs just hovering in the air. It reminds me of when Brodie would occasionally do a handstand while peeing.

sundog: nap break

Coraline has been really snuggly since it’s been so cold outside. She always loves being under the covers or in a sunny spot, but lately even more than usual.

Coraline

Earlier this week she was taking a break from being underneath the covers and was all curled up in the corner of the couch, enjoying the warm sun coming in through the front windows. That look is pure contentment, eh?

Sundog

Since it’s been cold out, Coraline has been spending a lot of time bundled up underneath a blanket, much of the time under a blanket on my lap (my own personal furnace), so she’s been out of range, photographically.

Then when she’s out, she’s crazypants, playing with toys and being super fun. She loves this newish wap I made her over the holidays. Look at those teensy teeth!

Unfortunately it is difficult to capture her in focus when she’s playing wap.

But then she snuggles into an afghan again and is so adorable it almost hurts.

So. Cute. We are so lucky!

it’s a blur

Coraline is so challenging to capture when she’s in motion.

It’s even more challenging to try to get both dogs in focus in the same shot.

This next one is the best of the bunch I took the other day, and even though neither of them are truly in focus, they’re both close, and their facial expressions make it worth it.
